Esprit Soutron Partnership specialises in solutions for Information and
content management, resource booking (e.g. PCs), printer management etc (all
the NOF rollout issues covered :) )
We are currently developing a URL checker which we plan to release in
September at a cost of £750.
The '0.8' release s available now for early takers who will receive upgrades
to the product as it is developed.
The 0.8 release is obviously pre-release and is without documentation at
this stage. It may be pointed at any text file containing a list or URLs and
will check them out and report on any broken links. Planned developments
include web site 'trawling'.
I should be pleased to answer any questions. More information about our
Information Management products may be found at www.espritsoutron.com

Subject: Link checking software
Apologies for cross posting:
I'm researching into some cheap or free software that will check whether
hypertext links are broken or redirected etc from our Library Website - we
currently have approximately 700+ links within our Gateway of Useful
Websites, all categorised into subject areas and also available in an A-Z.
Obviously this is a bit of a thank-less and time-consuming task checking
each link individually monthly, and we are looking into ways to speed up
this process! I have used an evaluation copy of CyberSpider, which seemed to
work pretty well and have attempted to install a fee evaluation of Blueprint
(but this seemed to wreck my PC, so am a bit loathe to try it again!).
I understand Dreamweaver 4 has a link checking strand to it, but am not keen
on using it since it adds a lot of unnecessary proprietary coding to the
webpages.
What do other people use? Can anyone recommend anything? If possible we'd
like to try the software out or at least see it working before purchasing.
Many thanks,
Helen Wood
