medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I am interested in the European medieval synagogue service. Has any one published anything on this? I understand that they were a lot of variation over Europe but was this significant? The Erev Shabbat and Shabbat morning service must have change a lot with quite a few new prayers and lots of new music introduced over the last 900 years. I should say my main experience is of English Jewish worship in a synagogue which is a hybrid of both Ashkenaze and Separdic practises.
