2 graduate student scholarships within our Graduiertenkolleg “Composition
and Evolution of Crust and Mantle" will be given to successful applicants.
The program, which started in November 1997, is funded by the German
Research Foundation and the State of Rheinland-Pfalz. It is initiated and
carried by the Johannes Gutenberg-University and the Max-Planck-Institute
of Chemistry in Mainz, Germany. The grants are limited to a maximum of 3
years. The research projects focus on:
- identification and characterization of episodes of crustal growth;
- processes of deformation and metamorphism during growth and consolidation
of the continents, and
- evolution of the Earth's mantle and crust-mantle interaction.
