Ph.D. Opportunity in Paleomagnetism
The Department of Geophysics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University,
Munich, invites applications for a Ph.D. project on Paleozoic
Paleomagnetism in Kazakhstan aiming at deciphering the drift history of
Central Asian terranes. The poition is funded for two years based on the
German civil service remuneration scheme (BAT IIa/2) with a yearly
salary of approximately DM 40.000,- (before tax), depending on age and
marital status. Extension for a third year is possible.
The candidate must have an M.Sc. or German Diploma degree in Geophysics
or Geology and the willingness to participate in extensive fieldwork in
Kazakhstan. Starting date will be August 1st, 2001.
