SCHOOL OF HEALTH POLICY AND PRACTICE, UNIVERSITY OF EAST ANGLIA, NORWICH
ONE FULL-TIME OR TWO PART-TIME RESEARCH ASSOCIATE(S)
IN HEALTH ECONOMICS
Applications are invited for one full-time or two part-time health economics
researcher(s) posts. You will be based in the Health Economics Group (HEG)
part of the School of Health Policy and Practice, working on a range of
topics in health economics and health technology assessment. Research staff
are encouraged to study for a PhD within the School.
You will have a background with a strong content of economic evaluation
and/or health technology assessment. Ideally, you will also have broader
public health, social policy, social science and/or health service research
knowledge and experience.
Good knowledge of research methods together with computer, word processing
and data analysis experience are essential. Experience of interdisciplinary
health research will be an advantage.
The appointment is for a fixed term of three years from 1 September 2001
until 31 August 2004.
Salary will be on the Research and Analogous 1A scale, £16,775 to £21,435
per annum (under review) (pro rata for a part-time appointment), depending
on qualifications and experience.

The researcher(s) will, over the course of 3 years:
? provide rapid response health economics support to the Health Economics
Support Function for the local NHS (directed by Dr Richard Fordham)
? play a part in a range of interdisciplinary health economics projects
co-ordinated by members of HEG (Professor Miranda Mugford, Dr Richard
Cookson and Richard Smith)
? contribute to planning of further interdisciplinary studies in HEG,
reviewing evidence, secondary data analyses and pilot work as appropriate
? contribute to the group's responsibility to provide regular abstracts for
the NHS economic evaluation database
? contribute to developing a web-based guide to equity and health
inequalities for the UK Health Equity Network (www.ukhen.org.uk) under the
supervision of Dr Richard Cookson
