Dear All
An interesting conundrum has been raised by a clinical colleague which
is of relevance to risk assessment of patients with atrial
fibrillation for subsequent cardiovascular disease. This is the issue
of measuring blood pressure in patients with AF, where the beat to
beat variation may complicate this. Is anyone aware of either:
1. A consensus view on the appropriate measurement of BP in patients
with AF.
2. The relationship of BP in AF with subsequent cardiovascular risk.
This is likely to be an increasing issue as the population ages, the
overall prevalence atrial fibrillation increases, and we seek to
implement evidence based anti-hypertensive therapy in older people. I
look forward to your comments on this.
Very best wishes.
Yours sincerely
