Dear all,
At last, I've finished the minutes from our meeting on 14 June in Milton
Keynes! I'm sorry they took so long, but I'm sure you know how things are
when you're working on something for only one day a week... The minutes are
attached and I'd be glad of any comments/feedback on them.
Since Milton Keynes, I've been to the HIgher Level Thesaurus (HILT)
workshop in Glasgow on 19 June, along with Phil Barker. HILT is a one year
project, partly funded by JISC to study and report on the problem of
cross-searching and browsing by subject across a range of communities,
services, and service or resource types. Please watch the HILT website
(http://hilt.cdlr.strath.ac.uk/AboutHILT/index.html) for details of what
went on at the stakeholders' workshop. A report will probably be available
in late July.
Also, this week Andy Heath, Steve Jeyes and I presented to a meeting of the
DNER cluster group for enhancing JISC data services for Teaching and
Learning. This was a good opportunity for to find out what sort of thing
the wider HE community need to know about IMS specifications,
interoperability and metadata. Similar issues to those which were
identified in Milton Keynes were raised at this meeting.
The other news is that CETIS are hosting a workshop at Bangor University on
23-24 July, entitled "Evolving Learning Technology Standards". I've
attached the pdf file with further details.
That's all for now folks. I'll be reporting back to you all on what the IMS
Metadata Working group are up to very soon, so watch this space!
Best wishes,
Jenny
