I am new to this list, and have searched through the archives but can't find
anything on this topic, so maybe someone can help.
How do others manage charging for printing on public access machines? I
have seen situations where printers are at the enquiries desk or in locked
cabinets, accessible only to library staff. I have also visited libraries
where cards are used: are these attached to the printer or the individual
PCs?
While we are a private organisation, we have a publicly accessible library
and information service, with public PCs. We have 10 machines and 2
printers at present, and printing is free but often abused. In considering
charging for this resource, how can we manage the logistics so as not to
take up too much staff time counting printouts, etc.
Thanks for your help.
