I agree with the important distinction drawn by Marian about the stance
taken by Professor Low in his lecture. I would simply add (for information)
that as someone who attended the lecture and who is incidentally proud to
adopt the accolade somewhat sneeringly applied by Low in his lecture, that
of being a "card carrying member of the Disabled Peoples' Movement", I can
affirm that his lecture isn't actually precisely as it appears in the
published version, (although this is bad enough). He did at the lecture
also make a number of apparently unscripted and somewhat vitriolic
sideswipes at both the Movement in general and individuals within it, which
don't actually appear in the published version. This, if anything,
strengthens an argument made in my view legitimately by individuals and
Groups within the Movement, for him to go (or at the very least) not be
reappointed to a role in which he clearly has some difficulty sustaining any
personal belief and commitment, not to mention credibility.
