I have started this year, a course on EBM, to our first year medical
students (out of a 6 years curriculum + one year of internship).
My very preliminary conclusions:
1. It's feasible.
2. The students like it.
3. It should be followed by additional courses into the the clinical
years.
4. I have no idea about effectiveness but if EBM is about changing the
way a doctor thinks, my bias is that it should be started very early on.
5. I have found very useful an interactive electronic system to engage
a large audience with questions and exercises, enhancing active and
concept learning, with quick feedbacks. I use a semi wireless system,
"PRS" (for Personal Response System) now distributed by an US company
called EduCue (formerly by Better Education) - I have no financial
interests in either one. The website is:
http://www.bedu.com/Welcome.html.
I hope this helps.
