New MSc course in Health Services/Systems Research at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
A new MSc in Health Services/Systems Research will be starting from September 2001. Over the past decade there has been a growing recognition throughout the world that health services and health systems research has an important contribution to make to resolving some of the dilemmas that face practitioners, managers and politicians who struggle to provide sufficient, high quality health services in an equitable, humane and efficient way.
The aim of this new research-oriented MSc is to provide students with a broad knowledge and understanding of the concepts and methods used in studying health services and systems in developed or developing countries. Students will be able to follow a broad curriculum or specialise in one of three areas: quantitative research, qualitative research, health economics. The course includes a large research component enabling students to develop their methodological skills and can be taken full-time over one year or half-time over two years.
