The Civic Education Project (CEP) is an international voluntary service
organization that supports higher education reform in societies engaged in
political and economic transition. It pursues this goal primarily by
supporting western-trained scholars-both local and foreign-as teachers and
innovators at universities throughout post-communist Europe and Eurasia.
Currently CEP has more than 200 Fellows teaching in 23 countries. In
addition to supporting and facilitating the work of these scholars, CEP
organizes a wide range of outreach activities intended to promote academic
exchange and training among students and faculty in the region.
CEP is accepting applications for the following position:
Country Director for Programs in Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova
The Country Director, based in Kyiv, will lead and administer the CEP
Program in these three countries. Responsibilities include: overseeing all
aspects of CEP's Visiting Lecturer and Eastern Scholar Programs in Belarus,
Ukraine and Moldova; managing finances; facilitating and overseeing regional
projects and events; developing partnerships with other organizations;
seeking funding for projects and promoting the work of CEP locally; working
with offices in Hungary and USA on program strategy, budgeting, fundraising,
reporting, and regional cooperation.
The position requires: strong organizational and management skills; good
knowledge of the region; significant experience working in the former Soviet
Union; strong communication skills; fluency in English; fluency in Russian
or Ukrainian; PR and fundraising skills; an advanced degree in the social
sciences or humanities; and availability for extensive travel and flexible
working hours. Successful candidates will be resourceful, hard working,
good-natured, able to handle a wide range of tasks and demands at one time,
and committed to the goals of the organization.

early as mid-May.
