NATIONAL PERINATAL EPIDEMIOLOGY UNIT

HEALTH ECONOMICS RESEARCHER
Salary: RS1A £16,775 - £25,213
Applications are sought for a new health economics research post within
the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit (NPEU), University of Oxford.
It is envisaged that the postholder will work on four recently-funded
studies, including two economic evaluations of perinatal interventions
and two observational studies with economic components, working closely
with the Unit Health Economist. In addition, the postholder will be
encouraged to contribute to the wider internal and external activities
of the NPEU.
The successful applicant will have a postgraduate qualification in
health economics and some experience of managing health economics
projects. However, candidates who have recently completed or are about
to complete their postgraduate studies in health economics and who wish
to embark on a research career will also be considered. The post will
be for three years in the first instance and is available immediately.
Whilst it is envisaged that it will be full-time, it is possible to
consider a part-time or job share arrangement.

Trial Administrator for INIS
(International Neonatal Immunotherapy Study)
Academic-related research scale 1B £16,775 - £21,435
This is a new post for a full-time Trial Administrator, funded by the
Medical Research Council. Phase One is for 17 months; if recruitment is
successful, Phase Two will be for a further 55 months. The
Administrator will act as the central contact person for the
International Neonatal Immunotherapy Study (INIS).
INIS is a multicentre, randomised controlled trial which will evaluate a
new treatment (intravenous immunoglobulin) for babies with serious
infections. The postholder will be responsible for overseeing the
day-to-day running of the study, liaising with participating centres
throughout the UK and overseas, and for planning, maintaining and
implementing administrative services for the study.
The successful candidate will have the advantage of joining an existing
team of six trial administrators working on various perinatal trials.
Training and personal development are encouraged within the Unit.
Candidates should have excellent communication skills and experience of
working on a trial or in medical research. Experience of word
processing (preferably Microsoft Word), Excel, data management and data
entry are also essential requirements for this post.
