medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Might I suggest that St Christina of Markyate has a suitable example of this
genre ?
Reference:
"The Life of Christina of Markyate: a twelfth century recluse" edited and
translated by C.H. Talbot. Originally published as an Oxford Mediaeval Text
in 1957-9 and latterly reissued by the University of Toronto Press in
association with the Medieval Academy of America in 1998.
Although the monk of St Albans who wrote this is not named he clearly is
writing from first-hand experience of the lady and would seem to fit your
parameters.
