Indeed. It is used of the Virgin Mary in a cantilena
of the last quarter of the 14th century, in GB-Lbl
63232A. The piece is entitled 'Ave, mundi rosa'. A
facsimile edition was produced by the Boethius Press,
now Severinus Press, in a volume entitled 'The
Fountains Fragments'.
