medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Beautiful, yes, but not medieval. A previous post
suggests that Alexandre Lenoir was responsible for the
current "tomb" in the late 18th- early 19th century.
Another post detailed the fate of the remains and
pointed out that what's in the Pere Lachaise is
nothing of Abelard or Heloise. It's hardly in the
Paris Tourist Office's interest to set the record
straight. Likewise at Saint-Denis, the monument of
Dagobert was commissioned by Saint Louis, if memory
serves me right.
