medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
With apologies for cross-posting:
I'm writing an article on medieval sexual identities, and
had planned to use an investigation into allegations of
sodomy at New College Leicester in the mid
fifteenth-century. I seem to have misremembered the
document, though, because when I went back to it, I found
that the editor (this was 1919) had considered parts of the
depositions unsuitable to print, even in Latin. It's case
no 40 in
Visitations of Religious Houses in the Diocese of
Lincoln Vol. II: Records of Visitations held by William
Alnwick, Bishop of Lincoln 1436-1449 Part 1. Edited by A. Hamilton Thompson.
London: Canterbury and York Society, 1919. Reprint, London: William Dawson and Sons, 1969.
Does anyone out there know whether the missing material has
ever been edited?
