medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Greetings, All!
I have a question from a student of mine. He asks why St. Peter
is portrayed with two keyes, one gold, one silver. Can anyone please
explain the symbolic meaning of this?
Since people are introducing themselves: I am merely an amature
medievalist with a particular interest in Early and High Medieval
France. By trade I'm an ancient historian, with an interest in Greece
and the Near East (Ph.D. from U. of Pennsylvania)
