medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I have recently begun looking into the vast literature on medieval memory
in relationship to my interest in saints' liturgies. I have two
quasi-bibliographic queries -- one modern and one medieval.
Does anyone know of any medieval author who speaks explicitly about
saint's liturgies as a mechanism designed to ensure that a given saint is
not forgotten. And/Or (preferably and) saints' liturgies as a mechanism
of recalling the virtues etc., of that saint. (I've already mined DuCange
and Niermeyer)?
Secondly, does anyone know of any modern scholarship on the issue of
liturgy and memory?
thanks in advance -
