medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear Suzanne,
My own, now somewhat old and wrinkled work on JdV was limited to the source
or sources he used in his Historia orientalis for his chapters on the life
and doctrine of Mohammed. If this is of interest to you, I will gladly
supply you with some pointers and text.
Yet what you really should read -- because it will provide you both with a
fresh outlook on JdV and with insight into the current state of JdV
scholarship -- is a book published by one (please read: by THE one who is
really though discretely the true spiritus rector) of the owners of this list:
The Faces of Women in Jacques de Vitry. Commentary,
editions and translations by Carolyn Muessig.
Peregrina Translations Series. Toronto: Peregrina
Publishing Co., 1999. ISBN 092066959X; ISSN 083-092
Best regards,
Otfried
