Subject: eContent: Call announced 15 March
Colleagues:
eContent: European Digital Content for the Global Networks is an EU
programme addressing three action lines:
1. Improving access to and expanding use of public sector information.
2. Enhancing content production in a multilingual and multicultural
environment.
3. Increasing dynamism of the digital content market.
Some list members may remember a pilot call for proposals under eContent
last year (2000).
The full programme has now been ratified. It will have a duration of four
years, with a total budget of 100 million euro. Its objectives directly
relate to the eEurope initiative.
The first call for proposals was issued on 15 March 2001. Libraries and
information services may be particularly interested in Action Line 1: Public
sector information. This AL will attract 40 to 45 per cent of the total
budget over the four years.
Note that in this eContent call: Part 1: 15.03.01 - 15.06.01.
Part 2: up to 16.12.02. See the web site at: www.cordis.lu/econtent for
further details of these deadlines, and to which areas the Part 1 deadlines
apply.
Further Calls anticipated:

Jun/Jul 2002: 3rd call (all ALs)
In parallel, calls for tenders - studies, publications, information and
awareness actions.
