Jel, the UK urokinase supply dried up last year. As it turned out Colville
Laird's registrar at the time was German and so Colville had him phone the
supplier in Germany. They arranged supply that way initially, but since
have managed to arrange supply in the UK through a UK company (for those of
us who don't speak German!).
The company to contact is...
UDG
Amber Park
Berristow Lane
South Normanton
Derbyshire
DE55 2FH
01773 510123
01773 810644
However, having said that we were discussing this on a PHPLS course at the
weekend (in passing) and there are rumours that the reason urokinase needs
to be used on a named patient basis is not from lack of testing but because
of evidence of lack of efficacy. Apparently there is a new bolus
thrombolytic due out soon which does have evidence of efficacy. I'm not
sure how accurate this information is.
