Is there any evidence for the common practice of doubling oral steroid doses
prior to dental treatment, to prevent collapse due to the stress of the
procedure?
This seems to be common dental teaching, yet as medics we don't advise
increasing steroid doses before procedures. My suggestion that 'steroid
collapse' was probably just sheer terror & nothing to do with steroids
wasn't well received! I guess some patients might omit their steroid dose
before visting the dentist which could cause problems.
