medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
The town of Halifax in Yorkshire also claimed a relic
of St. John the Baptist. 'Halifax' itself is derived
from 'holy face' and an image of the face of St. John
the Baptist appears on the town's coat of arms. I have
never been able to find out exactly what this relic
was, though....
Cheers
