medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone might be able to enlighten me about the
circulation of Christine de Pizan's Ditie de Jehanne d'Arc, especially in the
fifteenth century. I'm particularly interested to determine whether the poem
itself, or at least its existance, might have been known in England by the end
of the fifteenth century.
Kennedy and Varty's edition lists three manuscripts: Berne 205,
Carpentras 390, and Grenoble U.909.Res. Is this in fact a complete list? I
don't have any easy access to manuscript catalogues in general, and really no
access at all to catalogues for some of these collections, so if anyone has
information about the circulation and/or ownership of these manuscripts beyond
the basic information provided by Kennedy and Varty, or other information
about circulation of the poem, I would be very grateful. Since this is a
rather specialized question and perhaps not of general interest, please feel
free to reply off-list to [log in to unmask] Thanks in advance for any
help.
All the best,
Nancy
