medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Augustine mentions an eighth eternal day in the next to last paragraph of
City of God. " Suffice it to say, the seventh age will be our Sabbath,
whose end will not be an evening, but a Lord's day, an eternal eighth day,
as it were, which was made holy by the resurrection of Christ, thus
prefiguring not only an eternal spirit, but also the resting of the body."
