medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
The theology of the Eighth Day/Eighth Age is definitely in Bede's
writings and I would guess therefore that it goes back into the church
fathers (Jerome? Augustine?). For Bede, take a look at Faith Wallis,
ed. and trans., _Bede: The Reckoning of Time_ ( Liverpool Univ. Press,
1999); cf. Chapters 10, 66, and 71. Her footnotes, commentary, and
bibliography may prove helpful in leading you to the patristic sources.
