Graham:
Of course you know of the inscription on the Seventh at St Giles, Oxford
(Sum Rosa Pulsata Mundi Katerina Vocata)? Would their secretary have any
more details?

Dear Graham:
I can't help very much with your query. But at least I can point out
that the inscription 'Sum Rosa Pulsata Mundi Katerina Vocata' is not
unique to Lincolnshire. It occurs also on one of the bells in the Church
of St Mary the Virgin, in Downe, Kent. It is the handiwork of one William
Dawe, who lived in the late 14th to early 15th centuries. You can see a
reproduction of the inscription at:
http://web.ukonline.co.uk/dickon.love/kentbells/downe.htm.
I hope this helps a bit.
Cheers,
Martin Howley
