THE SERENA PROFESSORSHIP OF ITALIAN
Department of Italian
Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages
The Board of Electors to the Serena Professorship of Italian invite
applications for this Professorship which will become vacant on 1 October
2002 on the retirement of Professor Patrick Boyde.
The successful candidate will have an outstanding research record and an
international reputation within the field of Italian literature and culture.
He or she must have the knowledge, experience, and leadership potential to
continue and promote the tradition of Italian studies at Cambridge. He or
she will also be expected to make a general contibution to the academic work
of the University, and, in particular, to the teaching and administration of
the Italian Department and of the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages.
The appointment will be subject to the Statutes and Ordinances of the
