Dear Colleagues
Apologies for cross-posting yet again!
Please read my previous e-mail sent today (Copyright Directive - more help
needed - Round 2) in conjunction with Toby Bainton's below and follow his
advice. Leave the LAC members alone as far as direct lobbying is concerned
but do lobby your other local MEPs. With regard to persuading other European
MEPs, also do as Toby asks, and get your LIS colleagues in other Member
States to especially lobby the foreign MEPs Toby has listed below as well as
their own local ones.
Yours sincerely

Further to Sandy's message about more support for the library line on the
Copyright Directive, I'd like to suggest that the *British* MEPs on the
Legal Affairs Committee are best left alone for the moment. I saw several
of them last week in Brussels: our lobbying on them has reached saturation
point and may well become an irritant.
On the other hand, it will be worth getting in touch with your *local* MEP.
Even more important, if you have any contacts in other EU countries, ask
them to lobby their MEPs on the Legal Affairs Committee, especially Sr
Medina Ortega (socialist, Spain) [log in to unmask] fax
+32-2-284-9882, Hr Willi Rothley (socialist, Germany)
[log in to unmask], +32-2-284-9415, Mme Genevieve Fraisse (France)
[log in to unmask], fax +32-2-284-9555, Mme Marie Francoise Garaud
(France) [log in to unmask] fax +32-2284-9343, and M Francois
Zimeray (France) [log in to unmask], fax +32-2-284-9360
These MEPs are very much in favour of rightholders and need to be
convinced from their own countries that there is a
library/education/disabled view in favour of the Common Position - Toby
