Joanie (and everyone, in case Joanies message causes concern!),
I was a bit surprised by your complaint, especially as you're a Glasgow student! First of all, the MSG meeting is not "usually" in Burlington House, London. The MSG moves the meeting around the country, and in recent years it has also been in Liverpool and Manchester. There is a strong petrological community in Scotland and it is a while since a meeting was held north of the border. Transport links from England and Europe are excellent and cheap flights and rail fares (!) are available. Facilities at Glasgow are perfectly adequate for such an event and accommodation is ofen cheaper than it is in London.
I trust this answers your concerns. If you have any further problems with the meeting, Joanie, I'll be happy to try and iron them out with you on a one to one basis so as not to clog up the Geo-tectonics Mailbase.
(I'll collect my cheque from the Glasgow tourist board!).
With kind regards,
Simon
MSG Secretary

Dear Simon,
That is an inappropriate and very poor choice of venue, can I ask why it is
not being conducted at Burlington House, as usual?
Yours,
Joanie Marion
