Dear all,
as you may have seen in recent issues of ‘Geoscientist’, we are
proposing to run a Highlands Workshop over the weekend of 3-4 March 2001
at Oxford Brookes University. The workshop will take the form of a
series of informal talks and poster sessions with as much time as
possible set aside for discussion. It is intended that the workshop will
cover all aspects of current research into the Orthotectonic Caledonides
of Scotland and their lateral equivalents in Ireland. This does not,
however, preclude presentations on geological problems in adjacent
areas, provided that they might contribute in some way to resolution of
current controversies in the main part of the orogenic belt. The
workshop will start at 9.30 am on Saturday 3 March, probably finishing
early in the afternoon of Sunday 4 March, depending on the number of
contributions.
Further infromation is now available via the brookes geology website:
http://www.brookes.ac.uk/geology
please note: I am sending this on behalf of Rob Strachan and queries
regarding the workshop should be sent to the convenors via the website
as I will not be available to deal with them.
cheers
Henning
