Subject: Search for American papers
Dear all,
I am desperately trying to get some american literature about urban faunal
studies dealing with urban food ways and meat supply. Unfortunately, these
studies are published in american journals and books to which we have no
access in France even in the specialised libraries of Paris. These journals
are American Archaeology and Historical Archaeology. I would be extremely
thankful if anyone could help me out by sending me a copy of one or more of
the following papers.
Henn, R.E. Reconstructing the urban foodchain: advances and problems in
interpreting faunal remains recovered from household deposits. American
Archaeology 1985; 5: 202-209.
Reitz, E. J. Urban/Rural contrasts in vertebrate fauna from the southern
Atlantic Coast. Historical Archaeology 1986; 20:47-58.
Rothschild, N.A. and Balkwill, D. The meaning of change in urban faunal
deposits. Historical Archaeology 1993; 27:71-89
The following works were published in edited books:
Bowen, J. Faunal remains and urban subsistence in New England. In: The art
and mystery of Historical Archaeology (edited by A. Yentsch and M.C.
Beaudry) 1992: 267-281.
Davidson, P.E. Patterns in urban food ways: an examlpe from early twentieth
century Atlanta. In: Archaeology of urban America: the search for pattern
and process. (edited by R.S. Dickens Jr.) 1982:381-398.
Henry, S. L. A chicken in every pot: the urban subsitence pattern in
turn-of-the-century Phoenix, Arizona. In: Living in cities: current
research in Urban Archaeology (edited by E. Staski) 1987: 19-28.
Mudar, K. The effects of socio-cultural variables on food preferences in
early 19th century Detroit. The conference on Historic sites archaeology
papers 1977, 1978; 12:322-391.
Pendery, S.R. The archaeology pf urban foodways in Portsmouth, New
Hampshire. In: foodways in the Northeast (edited by P. Benes). 1924:9-27.
Best regards.
