Dear Colleagues,
Some of you already know of the ICAZ (International Council for
Archaeozoology) 2002 conference, to be held in Durham, UK, 23-28 August
2002. I am pleased to announce that the organising committee accepted my
proposal to organise a session entitled ARCHAEO-MALACOLOGY.
There seems to be an increasing number of scholars engaged in the study of
shells from archaeological sites, including the use of shells as
artifacts, exchange items, etc. as well as shell middens and various
isotopic studies. The exchange of information and ideas between
researchers working in different regions and periods is strongly
encouraged.
If you would like to participate in the conference and contribute a paper
to this session, please let me know as soon as possible. Abstracts are due
by April 2002, but your name and a tentative title would be appreciated as
soon as possible so as to enable good planning.
General information on the ICAZ conference is available at its website:
www.nmnh.si.edu/icaz
Please forward this announcement to your colleagues/students, and contact
me directly if you are interested or with any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Dr. Daniella E. Bar-Yosef
