Dear Amanda,
This is not a taphonomic source, but according to a 19th ce.
Hungarian reference both Lanius excubitor and minor prey upon the
eggs and nestlings of smaller birds. I wish this was archaeologically
relevant.
Gr. Laazaar Kaalmaan (1874-76): Hasznos ees kaarteekony
aallatainkrool I. Emloesoek, madarak, huelloek. (On useful animals
and vermins I. Mammals, birds, reptiles) Szent Istvaan Taarsulat,
Budapest: 69-70.
I do not want to experiment with weird Hungarian fonts which often
get lost or distorted in conversion. Hopefully, this transliteration key
will be clear of sufficient help in transcribing the original title:
aa, ee, oo= a, e, o with accent accueil
oe, ue= o and u with Umlaut
Best wishes,
Laszlo
