Hello everyone,
I am trying to find out when geese become skeletally mature. Can anyone suggest
a source of information on goose ageing? or does anyone have skeletons of
immature geese of known age in their labs?
We have the skeleton a commercially reared goose at Southampton. The bones are
adult size but very porous. I don't know how old the goose was when slaughtered;
it may have been 12 - 15 weeks, which seems to be typical of the most intensive
goose farming for meat today, or it may have been older.
I would also be interested in references to papers or books on goose husbandry,
especially from Russia, Poland, Hungary (preferably in an accessible language!).
Any ideas and suggestions most welcome.
