Subject: USer Issues Conference, London 22-23/2/01
Date sent: Tue, 6 Feb 2001 21:42:04 -0000
Organization: Card Europe
Ladies and gentlemen,
Please take time to look at the final programme for the major User
Issues conference to be held in London on 22 and 23 February 2001.
Many of you have already signed up to come, others may not yet have
heard about the event and I look forward to seeing you there. However,
what I really need is for you to circulate notice of this conference
to you own email circulation lists. This eEurope conference is
extremely important to all those interested in the development of ICT
based services and the use of smart cards as enabling tokens to such
services - and making them available to all. To make this happen a
wide community of requirements input is needed and for this reason we
need a very wide audience, both in greography and application sector.
The question is to get to all these people and this is where your
lists come in.
The conference is free of charge thanks to sponsorship from the UK
DETR and DTI government departments and is seeking to attract an
audience from across Europe at the very least, so your widest
circulation would be much appreciated. The text below might suit to
accompany your circulation of the programme. Please feel free to use
it or change it as you wish.
Thank you for your assictance and co-operation.
Alan Leibert
Conference director
PS. maybe we can break the record for email circulations. Lets try!
"We hope you are able to attend the important eEurope smart card User
Issues conference whose details are shown in the attachment to this
message. The conference highlights the key theme of eEurope which is
to bring the Information Society to the citizens of Europe in an easy
to use and user friendly way by listening to all categories of
citizens concerns about the use of new technologies and then acting
upon this input.
This conference focusses specifically on the smart card as an enabling
token to access the technologies heralded by the Information Society
and for the first time brings user issues and special needs
requirements to the centre stage. As citizens, you all have relevant
opinions and will want to provide input to the conference which
includes small breakout sessions especially to allow all delegates to
express their view.
The conference is generously sponsored by the UK DETR and DTI
Government departments and is free of charge to delegates. So there
should be no impediment to you joining the various bodies, interest
groups and citizens already signed up to come. We need strong
representation from all countries in the European Community. At
present only the UK, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Greece and
Finland are represented in strength. Make sure your country's views
are not neglected by signing up to attend and by circulating notice of
the conference to you local and national lists."
