Invitation to join the Northern England Thinking Group:
The Northern England Thinking Group (NET group) was established in June
2001 to promote collective discussion amongst academics working in the
field of thinking at Universities in the North of England. One focus of the
group will be to develop an integrated view of thinking in which links
between such topics as deductive reasoning, decision making and judgement,
hypothesis testing, problem solving, and categorisation are made explicit.
The aim of this is to develop a unified conceptual framework that
emphasises practical and real world aspects of thinking. The group will
hold regular seminars, workshops and discussion meetings at four Northern
Universities: Lancaster, Durham, Sunderland and Leeds. The group also has a
mailing list to promote discussion and information dissemination on
thinking issues ([log in to unmask]). Membership of the group and
mailing list is open to any academic from any institution who feels they
may benefit from involvement with the group. Further details are available
at (http://ibs.derby.ac.uk/net).
