Phew! on this subject.
Drugs are everywhere in our world, starting with caffeine, and the grip of
money on social existence for adults ensures their perpetuation, but at the
same time drugs, especially the harder they get, from caffeine through
nicotine through alcohol to the beyond, are destructive.
I don't know what to say about this in terms of moral prescription, drugs
kill, except maybe caffeine, at the same time our lives are mixed up with
them, whether we like it or not. But at the same time moral commonsense
recognises when someone is going 'to the edge', whether it be on alcohol or
hard drugs. And that is not something any sane human being would wish on
anyone, can anyone imagine a mother who would wish her kids to get into
crack, for example? En-ohh is the answer.
I dunno. We have to attempt discrimination in our behaviour, apart from that
the one nostrum I can repeat is that 'Life is inevitably fatal.'
