Dear Colleagues,
The post on design management that Dick Buchanan
cross-posted here involves a thread from the RIDE list,
Re-inventing Design Education in the University.
A few days back, Groenewald of the Cape Town
Technikon posted a copy of his new design management
newsletter. Several list members responded and an
interesting thread developed from a dialogue between
Jurie and Gunnar Swanson.
The RIDE list was established as a forum for Cal Swann's
conference at Curtin University in Perth last year, titled
Re-inventing Design Education in the University
While much attention has been given to doctoral education
in design, less consideration has been given to undergraduate
and professional education. Cal convened the RIDE
conference to explore these issues.
The list is relatively quiet, but nice threads emerge from
time to time.
The way to subscribe to RIDE is to go to URL:

RIDE is a JISCMAIL list, a service to the worldwide
academic community provided by the UK JISCMAIL
facility.
There are currently have 201 subscribers.
The list owners are Allan Davies and Felix Lam of the
London Institute.
The conference produced a good proceedings volume:
Cal Swann and Ellen Young, eds.
Re-inventing Design Education in the University.
Perth, Australia: Curtin University of Technology.
Well worth reading.
