Dear design newsgroup subscribers, sorry if this letter found you more then
twice or even once.
As a part of the research I am doing I try to analyse the usage of
spreadsheets in design process. Not a secrete that the spreadsheet is a
convenient way to organize various sorts of information. I am interested in
a special kind of information, namely the information reflecting the
knowledge about the current design situation. Did any one ever used or
thought about such representations? And a more general question. I am also
interested in other interesting applications of spreadsheets in design
processes.
Recently as a part of evolutionary delivery by Tom Gilb, I've seen quite
interesting usage of spreadsheets to manage the requirements. The rows are
requirements to the system (it was about software systems). Columns were
the steps spitted into the current state, the expected state, the actual
state. All the requirements assumed to be measurable in percents, where
100% means we are happy with it.
If you are interested in to find out what I am going to do with
spreadsheets you may visit our group web site at www.sai.tue.nl/research.
Interested people can also receive the last paper or find it in the next
ICED'01 conference proceedings.
Best Regards
Maxim Ivashkov
