Thanks for reply, John. It ties in with my source (Berwicks, Hadds, Roxbs &
Selks Directory, n.d. but think c. 1890, Town & Country Dir'y Publishing Co
Ltd, Edinburgh, in Selkirk Local History/Archives) which gives:
Deans & Moore, Bellyford, Carberry, Penston & St. Germain's Collieries,
all under 'Prestonpans', which clearly they're not, as RCH Handbook 1904
gives B & P at Macmerry and C at Smeaton (but doesn't list SG).
Rgds,
Ken Smith.
>In Hunt, R., Mining Records for 1853/54 and 1855 St. Germains is listed as
being located in Tranent and owned by John Deans, Note the spelling as
taken
from the Records.<
