There's a nice example of a beam engine(could be wrong,people can get cross
about this kind of mis-identification)at La Musee de la Mine at Le
Molay-Littry
a few miles S.W. of Bayeux in Normandy,in Calvados in fact and I'll drink to
that.Great place,brilliant mock u/ground display,and this 'Fire Engine' by
the
Freres Pierres built in the in the 18 th century and used for mine(coal)
pumping
if my French serves me.It's mobile too as it has four wooden wheels
reinforced
with metal.It's quite a famous machine locally judging from the info.
So,holiday solved,off to Normandy,send the family to Omaha beach for the
day and check out the machine.
