I was horrified yesterday to receive two automated replies from the BLL
for an artemail request list from me. I telephoned the customer service
who informed me that they had received two requests from me.
I spoke to our IT dept who informed me that if there is a blip on the
NHSNet email system, they will re-send all the email again and it has
been known to have been re-sent four times! This is totally out of our
ICTs control.
The British Library tell me they have no way of spotting duplicate
requests and consequently we will receive the articles twice, and have
to pay for them.
The IT dept suggest we send the requests by POST!!!!!! to ensure this
cannot happen again.
Are other people using the NHSNet having this problem, if so can we
press the BLL to have some way of spotting when an identical email has
arrived in their system.
Yours "out of pocket"
