a)ISI WoS Training Service
--------------------------
CHEST is pleased to announce an amendment to the agreement with ISI on
behalf of JISC for the creation of a dedicated WoS training service
until 31st December 2001. This will allow up to two hundred concurrent
users for training purposes.

MIMAS has confirmed that testing has been completed and that the service
will be available from the 17th September. Links to this service and
instructions for tutors will be available from the MIMAS training page
at: <http://wos.mimas.ac.uk/training.html>

b)Enhanced service for Ei Compendex
-----------------------------------
CHEST is pleased to announce that resulting from regular discussion
between CHEST and EEII (the licensors for Ei Compendex) and with the
full involvement of EDINA a much enhanced service will become available
from 1st October 2001.

Using the same usernames and passwords, users at subscribing
institutions will be able to go through the EDINA service to
"Engineering Village 2". There is no additional charge for this service
and no extra paperwork is involved. Full details will be presented to
you at login to EDINA but before the launch date EDINA will be
contacting its representative at each licensed institution to give
preview access.

The new service is complimentary to the existing service and
cross-searchable access to EEVL <http://www.eevl.ac.uk/eevlhub.html>
will continue to be available.

Ei Engineering Village 2 comprises website Abstracts from 10,000
technical websites evaluated on their technical content and relevance to
the engineering community; Techstreet Industry Specifications and
Standards, from 300 standard organisations world-wide; US Patents, 6
Million Patents from 1976+ in full-text, and CRC Press Handbooks, with
tables of contents and full-text links; as well as Ei's own version of
the Compendex database.

We look forward to receiving your comments about the new service. In the
meantime please see further details of the service from and through
EDINA at <http://edina.ac.uk/compendex/eivillage/about.html>

c)Grove Dictionaries Online
---------------------------
The Grove Dictionary of Music Online now incorporates the Grove
Dictionary of Opera Online. The CHEST web pages
<http://www.chest.ac.uk/datasets/grove/> have been amended to reflect
this change. The pricing for the Grove Dictionary of Music Online
remains the same as does the combined pricing for the dictionaries of
Music and Art. Licence forms (available on the web) should be returned
directly to Macmillan and not to CHEST.

d)CAS SciFinder Scholar
-----------------------
The provision of SciFinder® Scholar and the related SciFinder
Substructure Module (SSM) from Chemical Abstracts Service, CAS, was
negotiated by CHEST last year on behalf of JISC, following an initial
one-year period of pilot access to SciFinder® Scholar. See
<www.chest.ac.uk/datasets/scifinder/> for further details.

The agreement is for a three year term although licensed Instiutions are
able to renew their subscription on an annual basis. To date sixteen
Institutions in the UK & Ireland have taken out subscriptions for a
range of options. If any other Institution wishes to join the consortia
commencing 1st October this will reduce the price further for all
participants.

To arrange a trial of the service or to subscribe please contact Dr
Barry Dunne, the Marketing Manager for CAS products and services in the
UK and Ireland.
