Visit to Oxford University Museum of Natural History and 2001 AGM
28 February 2001
The Oxford University Museum of Natural History houses the University's collections of zoological, entomological, palaeontological and mineral specimens. With exhibits devoted to the history and diversity of life on Earth as well as its rocks and minerals, the Museum is housed in a building widely regarded as, "the finest neo-Gothic building in Oxford". The Museum was also the scene of the famous Huxley/Wilberforce debate of 1860.
The Berks, Bucks and Oxon section of UC&R have arranged a guided tour of this fascinating museum (covering its architectural and historical aspects) and its library and collections to follow on from our 2001 AGM.
Date and Time:
28th February 2001, 2:45pm - 4:45pm.
Location:
Central Oxford, on Parks Road immediately opposite Keble College.
Getting There:
Oxford is easy to get to by bus, car or rail from most parts of the region and there are four 'park and ride' services on the outskirts of the city as well as car parks in the city centre. Further information is available at http://www.ox.ac.uk/aboutoxford/how.shtml. There is no public parking available on site, but the Museum is within easy walking distance of the city centre and the railway station is only a short taxi ride away.
More information on the Museum is available at http://www.oum.ox.ac.uk/
The tour and AGM are free to all UC&R members in the region but it would be appreciated if you could let us know in advance if you plan to attend.
Please return the slip below to Natalie Pollecutt at Bulmershe Library, Bulmershe Court, Woodlands Avenue, Earley, Reading, RG6 1HY, or telephone or e-mail Natalie on (0118) 931 8652 x4822 and [log in to unmask]
