We're not a public library but just for info - we set up an experimental WAP
service to search the Oxford University (including Bodleian) library
catalogue last December. For those interested in the technical details it is
a WAP to Z39.50 gateway.
The url is http://dev.lib.ox.ac.uk/olis.wml
We aren't convinced it gets much serious use though...

Subject: First UK public library to set up a WAP site
Dear all
The Info Connect LIS Directory is on course to launch its WAP version
in June 2001.
The WAP version will be based on an existing list of WAP sites at:
http://www.geocities.com/infolibrary/wapsites.htm
According to my research, I found out that the very first UK public
library
to set up WAP site was Hampshire County Public Library in England, in
May
2000.
I would like to comple a list of UK public libraries that set up WAP
sites
in 2000. Can you help?
Please e-mail in the WAP address of the UK public libraries to:
[log in to unmask]
Many thanks.
