OCLC Europe, the Middle East & Africa will be holding a two-day workshop
entitled
Planning tomorrow's service: strategic management for library and
information managers.
It will be held on Thursday 15th - Friday 16th November 2001.
This two-day workshop is intended to help managers develop library and
information services for the future. The workshop will examine future
trends in higher education and library and information services and will
present techniques and concepts enabling managers to develop responsive
services. Case studies and examples from participants' organisations will
be used to illustrate the themes covered.
The course leader is Keith Webster. Keith has been Librarian and Director
of Information Services at the School of Oriental and African Studies,
University of London, since September 1999. He previously worked at
universities in Glasgow and Aberdeen, for the Scottish Library & Information
Council, and in government libraries and accountancy. He is Honorary
Secretary of the Institute for Information Scientists.
