Apologies if you receive this message more than once.
From time to time we are asked what the collection policy of CHEST
comprises. Please find below our policy. We doubt that this will
surprise anyone as it is and remains the policy we have always followed:
CHEST collections policy
------------------------
CHEST negotiates for all forms of commercially available electronic
resource ( abstracts, full text, journals, software, courseware, etc )
for the education and research communities in the UK and Republic of
Ireland, and it manages the resultant agreements. It makes the benefits
of the agreements available as widely as possible, because this enables
better deals and lower prices for everyone.
Its collections policy is simple - CHEST negotiates for, and manages,
agreements that users have asked for. It is driven only by demand and
the need to provide better value for money than can be obtained
elsewhere.
CHEST is a service of EduServ, a not-for-profit Information and
Communications Technology Service Provider to education and the public
sector. Offering software, data and courseware negotiation services,
access management systems and online information solutions since 1988,
EduServ has built a reputation for delivering high quality, leading edge
services and value for money. EduServ is a UK-registered charity.
