**Reference Tools**
Google - http://www.google.com
- This web search engine has added several new
features to enhance search results. First, they have
added some 13 million PDF files to their index,
the first search engine to do so. If you can't read
PDF files, Google also offers text versions. Second,
you can conduct more precise searches. For
example, if you only wanted to search PDF documents,
you simply type in your search term followed by
"inurl:pdf": so >refugees inurl:pdf < finds
documents containing the word "refugees" and that
have .pdf in their URL. (By the way, this search
produced 69,000 hits!) In addition, you can search
for specific words that appear in URLs as follows:
>inurl:refugees<.
InfoRetrieve - http://www4.infotrieve.com/
- Not yet officially released; offers bibliographic
database that can be searched for references to
journal articles in the scientific, medical and
technical fields; includes abstracts; copies of
articles available for a fee.
